New Urban Connections
In studying a new urban connection across the river, the city of Rotterdam:
- thinks of new relationships between the city and the river by re-orienting the city towards the river,
- reinforces the north-south evolution of the city centre and the entire city in developing the connections,
- activates new urban developments along the banks of the river in creating synergetic programming in transportation, residential, commercial, cultural and leisure activities,
- reinforces the quality of life inside the city,
- makes the banks and the heart of the city a new landscape that can bring forth a new image for the city,
- creates a new landmark on the east, at the entrance of the city centre which responds to the Erasmus bridge.
